Energy Switch Cashback Boost: the simple method that paid me £84
If you are still not aware of it, there is money to be made just by switching energy suppliers. If you are not incurring any penalties for switching, this method can be applied at any time. As for my particular case, I do not stay loyal to a single supplier for more than I have to. My logic is that every year (coinciding with the anniversary of my contract) I shop around for the best deal and once found, I sign up via my preferred cashback website (usually TopCashback). In this fashion, I am able to kill two birds with one stone: first, I save myself a nice chunk of money by finding the most competitive offer, and second, I reward myself with a cashback lump sum when this process is finalised.
From 2024 to 2025 I switched from EON Next to EDF and from 2025 to 2026 I left EDF for Fuse Energy. Both switches combined pocketed me £84 and delivered an estimated saving of £300 approximately which is not too shabby at all for 10 minutes of my time.
This is the sequence of steps I follow:
- Use comparison websites (preferably several) to find the best deal
- Sign up via a Cashback website.
- Save and collect the cashback
- Repeat.

I can run searches in as many comparison websites as I am able to find, however, experience tells me that three different comparison engines are sufficient for me to identify common ground in terms of a similar list of potential providers falling within my set criteria. This time, I ran searches in Uswitch, Comparethemarket and Confused.com.

I found that EDF Energy was showing consistently at the top of the search results. This fact alone was sufficient for me to make a decision. As a next step, I did not have to look hard to came across £40 cashback for a dual switch via TopCashback.

Having completed the switch to EDF Energy in September 2024, the transaction was captured as pending in my account and was made available for payment after six months in March 2025. Smooth and hassle-free process all along.

2025/2026 EDF to Fuse Enegery – £44 Cashback
One year on in September 2025, it was time again to look for an alternative supplier. Unfortunately, energy prices had surged from the previous year so it was a matter of need rather than a cashback gathering routine. On this occasion, I used two ‘more independent’ engines on top of Uswitch to identify a suitable energy supplier: Moneysavingexpert’s Cheap Energy Club and TopCashback Energy Comparison service.

Similarly to my previous year’s switch, the most common supplier coming on top was Fuse Energy, which surprise, surprise,… was the one eventually selected. This is the beauty of this process in the sense that decisions are automatically made for me without any faff. As for the last step, switching via TopCashback promised a £44 cash payment (conditions captured below).

And that’s that. This is my regular routine year on year. Simple enough and straightforward. I will be switching suppliers again around September 2026. Until then, I hope that you have enjoyed this post and use it as an example to get some cashback for yourself. Low-hanging fruit waiting to be picked. Go for it.
