Only £65 Free Money in June 2024. £60 below £125 monthly target for the first time this year. Well, it was bound to happen at some point and there you have it. Pretty uneventful month really which in contrast made me realise that all things remaining unchanged, I can expect around £65-ish Free Money passively on a monthly basis. And that is good enough to me my friends: £700-£800 per year for doing… nothing.
Bank rewards. My five qualifying accounts produced perks as planned to the tune of £18. As a piece of not so positive news, I received notification that Barclays will stop the Blue Rewards cash payment as of September 2024. Not good but not a massive loss either which I believe I will able to compensate by opting back into a money reward with my second Halifax account around that date (I selected the wrong option one year ago and I have no means to change it until the anniversary date).
Interest on Savings. £16 pounds in June. I have been saving for the summer holidays and that money is now spent. Even more modest earnings will be shown as a result here in the coming months. Not the end of the world by any means but I know I will not be hitting end of year objective in this department. I am confident I will be able to make up for it by overperforming in other areas.
Decluttering Sales. Single sale delivering a phenomenal £5 profit. It was the turn of a discarded Broadband Router to find a new owner. Happy days.
Cashback. £26 cashback just from using my AMEX credit card. I do need a credit card for my spending activities and this one is doing the job nicely leaving behind a juicy cashback trail month after month. I just checked my statement and it shows a balance of £265 since December 2023. That is £38 average per month. Thinking of applying for an additional one at some point to take advantage of introductory offers. I will wait for my next big purchase before going ahead (see post How to make £250+ Cashback from an American Express Platinum Credit Card).
Halfway through the calendar year and I have made £1,165 in Free Money. I have already reached objectives as regards to Cashback and Bank Switch Promotions. As for the other streams, I am pretty much there with decluttering and freebies needing a gentle push. But I have another six months ahead of me to worry about it. I will take care of it soon enough but for the time being, I am intending to make the most of my summer break. I’ll be back…
