After 18 months of religiously paying my dues, I am ‘free’ of my obligation to remain in my contract agreement with my current broadband provider. That triggers my process of looking for a better deal and simultaneously bagging some cashback in the process. The fact is, broadband providers are always fishing for new customers by offering competitives packages, prices, speeds and/or a combination of them all. My job is to give myself the best deal I can possibly find. There are three basic steps to my process:

1. Search deals using a number of Comparison Engines (minimum three).
2. After narrowing down my selected deals, query cashback websites for cashback rewards.
3. Sign up with my provider of choice via a cashback website.

Simples. By adhering to these basic steps, a decision is automatically made for me leaving the sign-up process to the end. Experience tells me that I should get £75-£100 Free Money in exchange for 10-15 minutes of my time. A good enough payout for me.

Ok. Without any further Ado, let’s get on with it.

Step 1 – Search broadband deals using Comparison Engines

I will not be spending a great deal of time doing this. I have my profile stored with a bunch of comparison engines so all I need to do is log in and click a button without re-entering all my personal details and address all over again. Search results are generated instantaneously. For this task, I picked TopCashback, Uswitch and Broadbandchoices.

Step 2 – Identify best deals and query Cashback Websites

Ruling out my current provider and filtering out speeds of less than 150Mb, I had a clear winner: Sky. To make it even more appealing, I happened to come across a £100 cashback reward for the Fibre 150 Plan and a £80 gift voucher on top. No hesitation here and I proceeded to sign up on the spot.

Only to be welcomed by a parade of technical problems unfortunately. I tried to switch three different times on three different days only to be told every single time that technical problems stopped me from becoming a customer. I could not be bothered with wasting my time and effort any longer, so regrettably, I had to move on.

That left me with two contenders: BT and Plusnet. BT messed me around in the past plus the deal on offer was too expensive in comparison with others. Eventually, the most competitive alternative was Plusnet: £25.99/month + £70 cashback. That will do for me.

Step 3 – Sign up with my provider of choice via a cashback website

End of the road. Having signed up using the TopCashback link, all that is left to do is to check that the transaction tracked correctly and from that point, wait until the cashback becomes payable and transfer it to my bank account. Easy peasy.

That was all there was to it. Since I am tied in for 24 months, I will revisit this process in June 2027. Until then, happy cashbacking.
